How to become a Member of The Actors Group
To maintain a substantial degree of professionalism at a working Actor level, a successful audition is required to become a member of The Actors Group. Auditions are held most Tuesdays at 6PM by specially qualified Staff Members. Auditions consist of a cold reading comedy and a cold reading drama and take approximately 1 hour. A reservation must be made by registering on the website, by email to actorsgroup@sbcglobal.net or by leaving a voicemail message on 818-506-4644 to request a specific date to audition with contact information: name, phone number and email address.

Protocol at The Actors Group is conscientiously adhered to for the good of all members. We strive to make The Actors Group an exceptional place to showcase your talent. We also are always interested in adding to The Group. We rely on and especially appreciate referrals from the membership that, as a primary resource, sustain the remarkable level of talent for which we’ve become known and for which you can truly be proud.

Required audition are the key element to keeping up the excellence of The Group. It is, of course, imperative that an actor’s talent level and cold reading skills be comparable to the rest of The Group. Just as essential is a respectful, generous attitude toward all actors. Members must be supportive of each other in keeping with The Group’s requisite etiquette. Therefore, holding the audition requirement in high esteem is important for everyone to do.

There are times when a member would like to "vouch" for another actor to bypass the audition process and expedite membership. We contend and ask every member to recognize that it is a slight to every other member who did comply with an audition to say that someone doesn't need to audition because they have impressive credits or they attend workshops at other places. Making exceptions is tempting. It, however, disrespects valued members and is not in the best interest of The Group. Please, never challenge this policy …especially at a workshop which disrupts the atmosphere and objective of being there. Simply… please don't ask us to do it… ever, for any reason. We value each of our members too much to make arbitrary exceptions.

Protocol also protects the safety that every Actor needs to be focused on an optimized performance. The Rules of The Group should answer any questions about protocol. They can be found here on the website and are published on any printed calendar as well as those sent by email.
